Quote of the day

When women are depressed, they eat or go shopping. Men invade another country. It’s a whole different way of thinking.

  1. How true…

  2. …or the average woman at least 😛

  3. One is not born a woman; one becomes a woman(I did not think of this myself-I’m quoting from a feminist).
Admittedly, maybe the genders do tend to think/act the way the post mentioned, but men and women’s ways of thinking are definitely not mutually exclusive and there are just too many overlapping areas. Having unfair gender stereotypes makes a vicious cycle as men and women somehow feel compelled to fit in their gender stereotype, or else feel like an anomaly. Our society is so steeped in with those unfair generalisations that very often, we do not complain about them but just blindly accept the situation! This just reinforces my point about how deeply rooted those old mindsets are. I, a sec 3 student(sec 4 in 2010), can attest to that. I know someone in an all boys’ school, and he and his schoolmates look down upon the boys in Choir(CCA) as they find Choir a ‘gay’ CCA. First, it is apparent that they think that males should act according to what society expects them to do. Second, it is another unfair stereotype that men who may behave more like how a woman is expected to behave are gay.
