Quotes of the day

'I do not feel obliged to believe that the same God who endowed us with
sense, reason, and intellect intended us to forgo their use.'

Galilieo Galilei, quoted in Des MacHale, Wisdom (London, 2002).

'Everyone is a genius at least once a year. The real geniuses simply have their bright ideas closer together.'

Georg Christoph Lichtenberg

While Lichtenberg’s comment is a source of laughter, the da Vinci comment is more demanding. Looking a the background, it can be considered a highly insulting comment. Because the adversaries of da Vinci certainly claimed sense, reason, and intellect for themselves as well. Like everyone does.

A double-edged sword. I would never use these words in a discussion, avoiding risking deep-fried. Over a single candle.

I would use these words only when I finally become Crowned Emporer-Padisha of the Inhabited Worlds etc etc. đŸ™‚
